Abstract

The rapid development of technology provides easy access to information, including in the field of investment, yet the level of investment literacy and interest among students remains low. This study aims to determine the effect of technological advancement, investment knowledge, minimum capital, and self-motivation on investment interest in the capital market, both partially and simultaneously. The research employed a descriptive quantitative approach with a population of 954 active students at the University of Muara Bungo and a sample of 91 respondents. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the equation Y = 3.289 – 0.098X₁ + 0.294X₂ + 0.331X₃ + 0.354X₄ + e. The results show that technological advancement has no significant effect on investment interest (t-value -0.979 < t-table 1.98), while investment knowledge, minimum capital, and self-motivation have significant effects (t-values 3.363; 2.548; 3.941 > t-table 1.98). The simultaneous test shows an F-value of 27.389 > F-table 2.48 with a significance level of 0.001 < 0.05. The adjusted R² value of 0.540 indicates that 54% of investment interest is explained by these four variables. The practical implication of this study emphasizes the need to enhance student investment literacy and education through campus programs and digital platforms to foster greater participation in the capital market.
